About The Lion

about usThe Lion at Buckden is a coaching inn providing a relaxing bar area, traditional dining and excellent accommodation.  Dating back to 1492, The Lion has been known as ‘The Lamb and Flag’, ‘The Lion and Lamb’ and retains much of its original character including an almost unique ceiling feature, open fires and an excellent atmosphere.

Ideally located in Cambridgeshire between St Neots & Huntingdon and adjacent to the A1, it is not only a great place to have a relaxing drink or a home cooked meal, but also a convenient and comfortable place to stay whether you are just passing through or taking some time to explore the surrounding area.

The Lion is located almost next door to Buckden Towers (formerly Buckden Palace), once the impressive location of the imprisonment of Henry VIII’s first wife – Catherine of Aragon.  There are many other places to visit and activities to do in the surrounding area.  Please see our guide to local attractions.
